Translation
Torque has the facility for people to make their own language translations
You can use the file [linked here] to use as the basis for your translation - it is based on the most recent version of the app.
The file structure is a simple key=value pair. All you would need to do to translate is to change the last half of that pair, the 'value' side.
So, for a quick example translation, to translate 'Clear Logs' would look something like:
Clearlogs=Clear Logs
In French, this might be:
Clearlogs=Effacer les journaux
The file format (for extended character set support) should be UTF-8.
Please note that backslashes ‘\’ are important and should be preserved, so if you see ‘\=’, then try to keep it like that
Try not to put the file through Google Translate, as it will generally 'break' it and make it unusable (google translate will attempt to translate the keys as well as values) and will not pick up on any subtle language nuances.
Testing the file
You can test your translation by putting it inside the '.torque' hidden folder on your memory card and calling the file 'translation_<lang>_override.txt' where <lang> is the iso639 country code (it should be as per the listing on This site
So for a french translation the file name would look like:
translation_fr_override.txt
This should help with translating the app if you want to lend a hand. Try a couple of small obvious ones first to make sure it works, and if you are enthusiastic enough to complete a translation, then I can include it in the app so it will be automatically included in future updates
That's pretty much it, if you are successful, drop the file into an email as an attachment and send it to ian@prowl.org and I'll include it in the app!
